Aadhaar Mandatory Only For AMC Quota Beds In Ahmedabad

Every person is issued a unique identity in India. This document is called Aadhaar and comprises 12 digit numeric fields. Keeping in view the corona situation in India, its importance has also increased a lot. The government established UIDAI in 2009 to smoothly operate, control, and monitor the whole process of Aadhaar enrollment. Aadhar enrollment centers work under the umbrella of the UIDAI to provide enrollment services to the residents of the country. Within a short period of time, a large portion of the country has been registered in the UIDAI database. An Aadhaar card is issued only to those people of India, who are inside the country for a minimum of 182 days in a year.

Aadhaar Act explicitly eliminates NRI (Non-Resident Indian) to obtain an Aadhaar card as they do not fall within the definition of residents as per law. The process to obtain an Aadhaar card is very simple. Just visit any nearby Aadhaarkendra to get enrolled. Supporting documents are very crucial if you want your Aadhaar application to be accepted without any issues. The normal time to get an Aadhaar card is 60 to 90 days from the date of enrollment application with the UIDAI. The enrollment fee is zero as the Government wants to enroll as many people as possible to make its population statistics up to date. At the time of the Aadhar application, the data entry officer in the Aadhar Kendra will take your demographic as well as biometric details.

Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is the body established in 1950 in order to maintain civil infrastructure and the overall administration of Ahmedabad city. AMC has 1200 beds quota in the hospital. As per reports, there are only 152 oxygen beds available in the city. Like other cities in India, the corona is destroying the whole population of Ahmedabad city. It has become very difficult to get a bed in any hospital due to lots of pressure of Covid-19 patients in the hospitals. The situation has become worst as patients from other parts of Gujarat are also getting treatment in Ahmedabad’s hospitals. According to an estimate, around 800 outsiders are being treated in the city. In order to control the worsening situation in the city, AMC has designated around 170 hospitals as Covid facilities. Apart from this, around 180 hospitals & nursing homes have been set up as Covid health centers.

AMC further clarified that though Aadhaar is a very important document. However, this is being asked at hospitals where AMC has 20% reserved beds and not in all places. As per statistics, around 12,500 patients are being treated in the city in over 350 nursing homes & hospitals. Keeping in view the miserable situation of the country, no patient is being asked to show his or her Aadhaar card. Health is everyone’s right and AMC believes the supply of health services without any discrimination should be given. As Covid-19 is a serious threat to mankind, we have to fight as a nation without any sort of discrimination of religion and races.
